HOME STUDIO The ISDN Heir Apparent For Remote Recording Is ... Well, What's Right For You? June 23, 2014 By Dave Courvoisier Voice Actor & TV News Anchor Free-market forces are having a heyday in anticipation of ISDN’s eventual downfall. ISDN is the expensive equipment and telephone subscription-based system for remote recording with your voice over client on the line, and the telephone companies are raising rates and/or abandoning the service in many regions. There doesn’t have to be just ONE successor to the throne of these twisted copper wires. There may be room for many. But at this point, three contenders are showing they want to be the alternative of choice (in no particular order):
I’ve spoken in person at length with the creators of these technologies. They’re all gifted, dedicated, innovative, and competitive people. I might add that they’re all decent and friendly people. I hope they succeed in their endeavors, and indeed, the marketplace may accept them all as viable hi-fidelity remote recording programs, based on broadband technology. Yet, which new system is best for serving your voice over customers' needs? COMPARE SYSTEMS - TUESDAY WEBINAR In May, at WoVoCon - the World Voices Organization convention in Las Vegas - Home Studio Master Dan Lenard (pictured) and I presented a side-by-side comparison of these three ISDN alternative technologies. It was a learning exercise, and helpful to all in attendance. Now, we’re reprising the essential flavor of that comparison in a webinar being sponsored by VoiceOverXtra. It’s this Tuesday, June 24, starting at noon Pacific time / 3 p.m. Eastern / 2 p.m. Central. Onscreen, you will see live demonstrations of how each of these new technologies works, and how to use them yourself. You can click this link to see all the details, and to register. Should you attend and/or view the recording of this webinar? Well, if you have ANY interest in keeping up-to-date with advancing technologies for serving your voice over clients, I’d recommend that you join in. See the demonstrations of these systems to help you determine the best fit for your own voice over business. (Note: Can't make the live session? No problem. Registration includes an audio/visual recording of the entire session.)The price of this webinar is right. And it's also an opportunity for you to meet the creators of all three programs, who will join us in conversation and informative Q&A discussion where your questions will be answered. -------------------- ABOUT DAVE
