AUDIE AWARDS® See And Congratulate Scores Of Finalists In The 22nd Annual Audie Awards® Competition February 16, 2017
(VOXtra) - When you're an audiobook narrator nominated for a coveted Audie Award from the Audio Publishers Association (APA), you know you've "arrived." And when your nomination makes it through judging to the pared list of finalists - well, that's truly a career milestone.
The APA has announced Audie Awards® finalists in 26 categories
for the 22nd annual Audie Awards® Competition, which is the premier
awards program in the United States recognizing distinction in
audiobooks and spoken word entertainment.
Winners will be revealed at
the Audie Awards® Gala on June 1, 2017,
at the French Institute Alliance Française in New York City.
And for the
second year in a row, award-winning comedian, author, and commentator
Paula Poundstone will emcee that event.
"This
year has shown another increase in both the number and quality of
submissions, which mirrors the continued year-over-year growth and
interest in audiobooks," says APA President Linda Lee. "We are excited
to have Paula Poundstone back to emcee our festivities this year, which
again promises to be a rollicking good time celebrating the best-of-the
best in our vibrant industry!"
Awards Chair Janet Benson adds: "Every
year our judges' mission is to select the best, and every year they
moan to me over how hard that is."
Through
the Audie Awards® competition, publishers enter titles in various
categories for recognition of excellence, the APA explains. Finalists are selected by a
diverse group of experienced judges, and one winner is awarded the Audie
in each category.
